We lived for yonks
In peace and tranquility
We lived safely, in a world so friendly
Omniscient of peace
We knew no calamity
Until you came and banished goodness
You brought the emblem of cruelty
Devastated our harmonious homes
Incapacitated many
Apprehended and droughted for slavery
Scourged all day, with the rage of furious canes
Now emasculated
We live in terror of terrified creatures
Embattled by hungers
We suffer under hard labour
And we committed no crime
Crying and weeping
We mourn the loss of loved ones
Painful pleasures our daily possessions
We yearn for emancipation
You deteriorate our weakness
Our thoughts under incarceration
In cells of hopelessness
Death becomes our greatest ambition
We never fall somnolence at all
We endure all throbs and threes
Rekindle our aspirations and hopes
We might be powerless
Helpless but not hopeless
Our freedom is sacrosanct
Determined are we to combat
Your pains to humanity
Your destruction to God’s creation
Of your in-humanity, shall you be paid
Until we win the fight
We shall battle
