THE PURPOSE SERIES: DAY 11

In your finding and fulfilling God’s purpose for your life, you need mentors and models to guide, inspire, and motivate you. Jesus, the most perfect model, said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12.

To emphasise the importance of models and mentors, realise that whatever you will do has already been done. Even Jesus’ miracles, signs, and wonders were done previously by one of the prophets or patriarchs. Elijah raised someone from the dead, Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, and Elisha floated an axe on water.

What are you aspiring to become or achieve? For Christian ministry, follow the examples of the apostles (Peter, John, Paul, Timothy, and more). For leadership, follow the examples of the Kings (David, Solomon, Josiah, among others). In entrepreneurship, Jacob is a model. There are several examples.

With the help of God, guidance from mentors, and inspiration from role models, you will find your journey of purpose easier.

While you can learn from different people about various aspects of your life, it is wise to have one life mentor, coach, or father to whom you can submit. This will help you maintain balance, keep focus, and be accountable.

Paul advised, “For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the Gospel” — 1 Corinthians 4:15.
